Lead Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineer - Development

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineer with a strong background in mechanical engineering and product development within the medical device industry. This role will be pivotal in designing, optimizing, and validating new medical device products.

Projects and Responsibilities:

Mechanical Design and Development: Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems for new medical devices, including mechanical movements, material selection, and component selection to ensure performance and durability.

Product Development: Oversee the product development lifecycle, from initial concept through to production, ensuring that all designs meet regulatory standards. Utilize advanced 3D CAD software to design components so they fit seamlessly within our device architecture and product aesthetics. 

Fluid Dynamics Development: Have experience within practical Fluid Dynamics and  components design. Having used CFD followed with experimental verifications.  
Also collaborate closely with our expert partners to develop and optimize fluid dynamics systems within our medical devices.  Good experience in this field is desired (e.g. CFD and FEA)

Prototyping and Testing: Develop and test prototypes to validate design concepts and ensure performance and safety.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, embedded systems engineers, and healthcare professionals.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant medical device regulations (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA). Having experience with QMS is a plus.

Experience: 3+ years in mechanical engineering with a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Biomechanical, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.

3D CAD: Expert in using 3D CAD software (Onshape) for designing parts with complex geometry and skilled in applying GD&T principles for part specification and tolerance.

Prototype Design and Build: Demonstrated experience in designing and building prototypes, including expertise in material selection to meet design requirements.

Simulation and Analysis: Proficient in simulation and analysis techniques such as CFD and FEA with a strong focus on practical applications in fluid dynamics in low-pressure systems is desired. Design for injection molding is a strong plus.

Mechatronics Experience: Experience with actuators, and electromechanical integration (sensors, motors, motor drivers, wire harnesses).

Documentation Skills: Ability to produce and maintain clear documentation throughout the design process, including creating detailed 2D drawings that adhere to industry standards.


Bonus Qualifications:
Experience with high-volume manufacturing processes.
Experience working with contract manufacturers.
Wire harness design experience.
