NPA assistant wanted in Selfoss
Hi, I’m Jenny – I’m Looking for a personal assistant.
I’m 50 years old and live a quiet life with my horse Mýrra and cat Nalle in 800, Selfoss. I’m looking for someone kind, responsible, and with a good sense of humor to help me manage my daily life.
I had a stroke five years ago which left me with aphasia (so I need a lot of help with finding words), visual field loss, and neuropathic pain in half my body. I also live with chronic pain, fibromyalgia, a herniated disc, autism, and ADHD – so life takes a bit of extra planning and patience. I’m introverted and value a calm environment, animals, and nature and it’s important to me that my assistant shares my interests and can help me doing the things that I love.
Here’s what I could use your help with:
- Getting to appointments (like dentist, physio, chiropractor, and vet)
- Grocery shopping and light cleaning now and then
- Visiting the stable and helping me with my horse (bonus if you can do basic riding)
- Support with communication and planning
- Encouraging social contact with friends and connection with others in similar situations
- Just being someone I can trust and rely on in daily life
- help me organise and keep a clean and calm environment because I function best in that kind of environment
You don’t need to have much experience – the right attitude means more than a long CV. That said, if you’ve done something similar before, that’s great! A work permit is a plus and similar interest.
I can not drive so it is import that my assistant has a driving license and access to a car because I don’t have a car of my own at the moment.I think it might be important that my assistant has lived in Iceland for some time so they have some knowledge and experience with the basic things that follow with living here and can help and support me with those things. Good communication skills would also be helpful and an open mind for thinking of and trying new ways of communicating to make communication easier for me.
Working hours:
Winter: flexible, starting around 12:00 midday or using the daylight hours.
4-6 hours shifts 5-6 days a week, divided between two assistants.
If this sounds like something for you – and if you like animals, mindfulness, and working in a calm and meaningful way – I’d love to hear from you.
