Accountant
Job summary:
Responsible for the daily and monthly accounting function for the Iceland Office. Maintain a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results. Lead the month-end close processes, including the preparation and reconciliation of financial statements. Assist the Marport Controller in maintaining accurate financial information and ensuring internal controls are preserved.
Job function:
- Perform month end close processes.
- Enter Accounts Payable into ERP.
- Set up weekly payments to vendors.
- Provide monthly payroll data to outside payroll service.
- Responsible for recording of all inventory transactions.
- Conduct weekly inventory cycle counts.
- Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of monthly journal entries and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
- Assist the Marport Controller in preparation of budgets and or forecasting.
- Participate in year-end audit.
- Cross train to provide back up for administrative personnel at Marport subsidiaries, specifically in IFS (ERP) functions.
- Processing customer invoices and credits.
- Issue RMAs for Customers requesting a return.
- Post customer payments.
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline accounting processes.
- Support business needs in completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting, and strategic analysis as requested.
Education/experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting.
- Ability to organize and priorities workload and meet deadlines. Experienced with excel.
- Experience with an ERP system.
- Professional written and verbal communication and people skills.
