Two Biologists for Project Positions at the Faroe Islands National Museum
Faroe Islands National Museum is seeking two biologists to be employed from March 1st, or as soon as possible. These are full-time positions, which are time-limited for two to four years. The work primarily involves monitoring the status of terrestrial fauna and flora according to the Circumpolar Biodiversity Monitoring Program. One position will be located at the Botany Department, and the other at the Terrestrial Zoology Department. There is the option that, in consultation with the applicant, one of the positions can be linked to Koltur Research Station.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the biologists will include:
- organizing research and studies
- fieldwork to collect biodiversity data
- sort and identifying specimen
- processing data
- communicating results
- collaboration both domestic and international
- other general museum duties
Qualifications
We expect that you have:
- higher education in biology
- relevant knowledge and interest in zoology or botany
- good teamwork skills and a proactive attitude
- the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- driver license
Salary and Employment Conditions
The position and salary will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the union AKF (Akademikarafelag Føroya).
