
Design Manager
Borealis Data Center is seeking an organized and experienced Design Manager to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design across its data center construction and development projects.
Reporting to the Director of Construction and Engineering, the Design Manager will coordinate mechanical, electrical, architectural, civil, and infrastructure designs, ensuring drawings and technical documents are accurate, aligned, and properly controlled throughout the project lifecycle.
Acting as a link between engineers, project managers, construction teams, contractors, consultants, and Operations, the role ensures that design information flows smoothly, interdisciplinary issues are identified, and all stakeholders work from the latest approved documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the overall design process and ensure customer design requirements are clearly understood, incorporated, and fulfilled throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate technical designs across mechanical, electrical, architectural, civil, automation, and infrastructure discipline
- Manage the flow of design information between internal teams, consultants, contractors, and suppliers
- Review multidisciplinary drawings and models for consistency, completeness, constructability, and alignment with project requirements
- Identify design conflicts, missing information, and interface issues, and coordinate their resolution with the relevant technical specialists
- Maintain accurate drawings, models, design records, revision histories, and document registers, ensuring stakeholders work from the latest approved information
- Track design decisions, reviews, approvals, changes, and agreed actions throughout the project lifecycle
- Support project and construction teams with design clarifications, technical information, and as-built documentation
- Drive the continuous development and improvement of Borealis’ design standards, templates, and coordination processes
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant education or professional experience in engineering, architecture, construction, technical design, or a related field
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary designs, drawings, models, and engineering documentation for data centers or comparable mission-critical infrastructure
- Ability to take ownership of the design process, drive decisions, and ensure timely resolution of design issues
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, architectural, civil, and infrastructure drawings
- Experience with design and review tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, or similar platforms
- Understanding of document control, revision management, drawing registers, submittal workflows, and common data environments
- Structured and detail-oriented, with strong coordination, organization, communication, and follow-through
- Strong communication skills in English
