Aveo builds real-time driving simulators that train the people who operate vehicles on airport aprons and runways. Airside driving is one of the most demanding driving environments in the world. Aircraft, fuel vehicles, baggage trains and ground crews move in close quarters, where a single mistake can cost millions or put lives at risk. Senior Software Engineer, Simulation Platform

You will work closely with engineers and technical artists to build data-driven, visually compelling airport environments designed for effective training. This is a full-time role based in Reykjavík.

Your work will include:

Developing our airport-creation pipelines using airport environment data, aircraft trajectories and simulation systems
Support customers delivery by building tools to improve the scenario creation process
Designing and owning features across our web applications, backend services and internal tooling
Helping shape the platform’s architecture as the product and team grow
Improving how we develop with AI, including the agent workflows, tools and guardrails that help us move quickly while maintaining quality
Supporting driving hardware and helping set up and test client installations

Our current stack includes TypeScript and React on the frontend, Node.js and Python on the backend, and C++ and Unreal Engine on the simulation side.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who brings:

A strong foundation in computer science, software engineering or a related discipline, gained through a BSc, MSc or equivalent practical experience
Experience designing real-time or enterprise systems and architecting software that customers depend on
Full-stack web development skills, covering both frontend and backend development
Relevant development experience
Experience building with large language models and AI agents
High standards and pride in your work, balanced with a practical focus on delivering what matters
Clear professional communication skills in English

Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:

Simulation, digital twins or serious games
Unreal Engine or another real-time engine
Signal processing or simulation-engineering practices
Aviation, airports or ground handling

You do not need to match every point. What matters most is how you think, what you can contribute and how much you want to build.
