Manager Experience Engineering

Icelandair Digital & Data is looking for a Manager Experience Engineering to lead a chapter of around 20 front-end and full-stack professionals working across several cross-functional product teams. This is a key leadership role within our Digital Development department, where we are constantly advancing how Icelandair designs, builds, and operates its digital customer experiences. In this role, you will help shape some of Iceland’s most critical digital touchpoints, from the nation’s largest e-commerce site, the Icelandair flight booking experience, to the Icelandair customer app and our global online presence.

What you will be doing:

• Lead the Experience Engineering Chapter, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and reliable customer-facing solutions.
• Support product teams by providing the right skills, standards, and shared practices.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Tech Leads, Designers, Enterprise Architects, and Agile Coaches to align delivery and long-term capability growth.
• Establish and maintain engineering standards, shared libraries, and ways of working that accelerate and unify customer-facing development.
• Mentor and coach chapter members, driving professional development and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in a modern web development environment.
• Strong understanding of front-end and full-stack practices, including experience with React, Next.js, Node.js, and design systems/component libraries (e.g. Storybook).
• Experience working in agile, cross-functional product teams.
• Ability to balance short-term delivery needs with long-term capability building.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Development, or related field.
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and coaching skills.
