

Engineering Chapter Lead
Employee responsible for providing people and technology leadership to engineers and development of their competences – they develop the Chapter team and the people aligned to that Chapter, both professionally and in their area of expertise. The Chapter Lead is a full-time role; Chapter Leads are responsible for hiring, retaining and growing the talent to ensure that Controlant has the best supply of talents in their craft in each of the product teams. Chapter leads work closely with our product teams to ensure Controlant has the best talents in the teams to support business needs, team capacity, and opportunities for growth. This is a leadership role, where combination of people management and strong expertise in the craft are combined.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define professional standards and work methodology within the Chapter area of expertise
- Develop the talents in the chapter and define the need for training
- Lead interaction and knowledge sharing among Chapter employees in different teams and in cooperation with other Chapters.
- Support members of chapters professionally and be their sparring partner in their area of expertise
- Facilitates personal development and goals of Chapter team members
- Undertakes assessments of Chapter employees to support their professional development
- Oversees decisions to hire and dismiss Chapter employees and consults with the Product teams as well as the leadership team
- Resolves organizational issues e.g. plan leave and account for absences
- Has the ambition to motivate members of the Chapter team
- Participates in solving complex problems that require the highest competency level as an expert or organizer of the necessary consultations with other experts
- Contributes to a Team of Chapter Leads
Skills Knowledge and Expertise:
- Experience in developing engineering methods and standards and promoting those standards across an organization
- Experience leading teams, conducting technical and behavioral interviews, hiring and assessing team members
- Ability to create an atmosphere of trust and comfortable/efficient work environment
- Innovation and strategic thinking to be able to continuously improve and evolve Chapter
- Seasoned product development expert; has built and managed multiple large-scale products (or portfolios of products) in an agile environment
- Proven leadership experience in agile organizations; makes architecture designs for the organization
- Understanding of current Engineering talent pool, educational attainment and developments in the field
- Significant experience with Agile infrastructure, environments, and deployment strategies/technologies to drive efficient working practices and DevOps
- Leads products that span multiple organizations and business units; oversees technology delivery, infrastructure, and design to inform overall organization technology strategy
- Able to understand needs of and provide guidance for a team’s development needs
- Critical thinker who can identify and build capabilities that help to achieve long term and short term organizational strategic goals
- Exudes passion and energy to motivate chapter members
