Bookkeeper for Multiple Entities

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial operations for three intertwined companies within the tourism industry in Iceland. The role requires strong organizational abilities, flexibility, and a keen understanding of accounting practices in a multi-entity structure. The companies work closely together, so the bookkeeper will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting management with financial insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for three interconnected tourism companies.

• Record daily financial transactions, including income, expenses, payroll, invoices, and payments.

• Handle accounts payable and receivable across all three companies.

• Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions on a monthly basis.

• Prepare and issue invoices, process supplier payments, and monitor outstanding receivables.

• Support payroll processing and ensure compliance with Icelandic tax regulations.

• Prepare VAT filings and other statutory financial reports as required.

• Collaborate with management to provide financial data for budgeting and forecasting.

• Liaise with external accountants and auditors.

• Ensure consistent bookkeeping practices across the three companies while respecting their individual reporting needs.

Qualifications & Skills

• Proven experience as a bookkeeper, accountant, or in a similar finance role (experience in tourism industry a plus).

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Icelandic financial regulations.

• Proficiency with accounting software (experience with Scandinavian/Icelandic systems preferred).

• Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple entities simultaneously.

• Attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small, dynamic team.

• Good communication skills in English; Icelandic language skills are an advantage.
