Senior Process Engineer

Are you interested in contributing to the reduction of global CO2 emissions and working at the forefront of developing technical solutions within power-to-X, green chemicals, renewable chemicals, and e-fuels?

CRI is looking for a Senior Process Engineer who will be working in CRI’s multidisciplinary engineering team, responsible for the design of CRI’s green methanol production facilities, based on CRI’s proprietary technologies. The role will be involved in various international projects across all phases, from feasibility studies to plant operation.

This role is based in Iceland, and the company offers relocation support for qualified candidates.

Helstu verkefni og ábyrgð

Lead and execute process design for green methanol plants, including systems such as chemical reactions, distillation, compression, water electrolysis, gas separation, gas cleaning, utilities, etc.
Develop and update key process deliverables like heat and mass balances, process flow diagrams (PFD), process data sheets (PDS), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), cause and effect (C&E), technical specifications, and functional descriptions.
Review and approve process deliverables within the Engineering department, and provide support to junior engineers.
Coordinate and participate in design reviews, technical assessments, HAZOP, and LOPA.
Participate in procurement activities, including preparation of requests for quotations, bid evaluation, participation in contracting, review of vendor documentation, and participation in inspections such as factory and site acceptance tests (FAT/SAT).
Provide technical support for commissioning and start-up activities of unit operations, processes, and plants.
Provide expert input and technical support to company-wide functions, including Operations, Quality, and Maintenance.
Actively participate in the development of new processes, including conceptual design.
Collaborate closely with the R&D team to translate innovative concepts into scalable engineering solutions.
Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of process improvements, new technologies, and sustainability initiatives.
Support data analysis, experimental design, and validation activities for emerging process concepts.

Menntunar- og hæfniskröfur

Master of Science in process engineering, chemical engineering, or other relevant subjects.
Minimum 8 years’ experience in Chemicals, Refining, Oil & Gas, or other relevant industries.
Hands-on experience with power-to-X, syngas, green chemicals, renewable chemicals, and e-fuels technology applications is considered a strong asset.
Solid experience working in multidisciplinary projects.
Experience in review and approval of process design deliverables.
Relevant experience and good knowledge of using modeling software, such as Aspentech and Unisim. Matlab is a merit.
Knowledge and experience working with statutory and international standards.
Excellent written and verbal English skills. Additional languages are a plus.
