Technical Designer
CCP is seeking a Technical Designer to join our Platform Tools Team in Reykjavik, where we develop and maintain a wide variety of internal tools & services to support CCP’s Carbon game engine.
In this role you will serve as a link between game creators and platform developers as we develop new tools & services and modernize legacy systems. As Technical Designer for developer tools, you will take a data driven approach to researching industry leading developer tools, set standards, design improvements, and contribute to our Carbon codebase.
Your tasks:
- Research industry standards & trends in developer tools in order to identify areas of improvement & standardisation
- Work directly with game designers, artists, QA, engineers and other disciplines to understand their workflows and advocate for improvements
- Design, prototype and develop tools and pipelines for both desktop applications and web services that will improve the productivity and autonomy of our development teams
- Directly contribute to our code base as an engineer, while also supporting your team and projects in a design capacity
Your Profile:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a software development & design position, ideally in a game development environment
- Expertise in UI frameworks & UX and design, with experience in both desktop applications and web services being a plus
- Solid programming and debugging skills in Python, C++ & JavaScript and similar languages
- Able to own both design and engineering tasks on a multi-disciplined team
- Well versed in industry standard development tools such as Unity, Unreal Engine CryEngine, etc
- A great communicator, who can effectively convey project requirements and designs to diverse audiences
