Course Overview – Safety Authorization for Work on Electrical Power Installations

This course is generally considered the minimum requirement for permanent employees and contractors of utility companies to obtain key access authorizations for working on or near electrical power installations.
 
The course covers applicable regulations governing work on electrical power systems and their interpretation. Special emphasis is placed on current procedures issued by the Icelandic Housing and Construction Authority (HMS), including Directive 1/84, VLR 3.031, and VLR 3.032, along with relevant provisions of the standards ÍST EN 61936-1 and ÍST EN 50522.
 
Participants will gain an understanding of the structure and requirements of Electrical Safety Management Systems (RÖSK) as well as the rules for implementing and removing safety measures. The course also addresses working procedures within operational units of the electrical grid in line with the aforementioned documents.
 
Additionally, it covers responsibilities, procedures, and harmonized practices for switching operations and preparing work on system components or operational units in the power grid.
