shift supervisor

Assists the store manager in executing store operations during scheduled shifts. This job deploys partners and delegates tasks so that partners can create and maintain the Starbucks Experience for our customers. Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of Starbucks.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to:
 

  • Executes store operations during scheduled shifts; organizes openings and closing duties as signed.
  • Provides quality beverages and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe, presentation and customization standards.
  • Follows local regulatory health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products.
  • Follows other Starbucks store operating policies, procedures and standards, including cash register/management practices as well as store safety and security, and ensures the safety of all other partners during each shift.
  • Discovers and anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues.
  • Delivers legendary customer service to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude and connecting with customers /responding to their needs through clear and pleasant communication.
  • Communicates information to manager so that the team can respond as necessary to create the Third Place environment during each shift.
  • Assists with new partners training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed; provides feedback to store manager on partner performance during shift.
  • Creates a positive learning environment by providing clear, specific, timely and respectful coaching and feedback to partners on shift to ensure operational excellence and to inprove partner performance.  Recognizes and reinforces individual and team accomplishments.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance and meets required dress code.
  • Works flexible hours that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays.
Educational and skill requirements
  1. At least 1-2 years of customer service experience in a retail or restaurant environment.  For example, experience in a role that requires constant interacting with and fulfilling the requests of customers.
  2. Ability to direct the work of others ie. delegating tasks to other employees or coordinating the tasks of five or more employees.
  3. Effective oral communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.
  4. Knowledge of the retail environment, with the ability to learn quickly.
