Process Development Scientist

Overview of Role

Alvotech is seeking a motivated Process Development Scientist to join its Drug Product Development team in Reykjavik. In this role, you will be involved in developing liquid and lyophilization manufacturing processes for life-changing biologics (biosimilars) and finished dosage forms. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of process development, protein chemistry, and drug delivery.

Scope and responsibility:

  • Your main objective in this position will be to design, perform and report studies/experiments in the development of liquid/lyophilization biologics drug product manufacturing processes to ensure homogeneity and high quality of the drug product.
  • You will be a subject-matter-expert focusing on development of process operations including freezing/thawing, mixing, filtration, filling and lyophilization from early-stage throughout late-stage development to develop processes for clinical and commercial drug product manufacturing.
  • You will work closely with other drug product development teams to ensure compatibility of the formulations and container closure systems with the developed manufacturing processes, as well as other colleagues to ensure seamless transfer of the process from development to manufacturing.

Job requirements:

  • You hold a MSc or PhD degree in biotechnology, chemical engineering, biochemistry, chemistry, pharmaceutical science or other relevant discipline.
  • You have hands-on experience in working with proteins in a biochemical laboratory. Relevant experience in biopharmaceutical drug product development is desirable, but not a requirement.
