Landhelgisgæsla Íslands

Landhelgisgæsla Íslands er löggæslustofnun sem hefur það hlutverk að sinna löggæslu og eftirliti sem og leit og björgun á hafsvæðinu umhverfis Ísland. Landhelgisgæslan annast einnig framkvæmd á varnartengdum rekstrarverkefnum í umboði utanríkisráðuneytisins sbr. varnarmálalög nr. 34/2008 og samning við utanríkisráðuneytið, þ.m.t. er rekstur öryggissvæða, mannvirkja, kerfa, stjórnstöðvar og ratsjár- og fjarskiptastöðva Atlantshafsbandalagsins. Hjá Landhelgisgæslunni starfar rúmlega 270 manna samhentur hópur sem hefur að leiðarljósi slagorðið: Við erum til taks! Gildi Landhelgisgæslunnar eru: Öryggi - Þjónusta – Fagmennska. The Coast Guard also carries out defense-related operational projects on behalf of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, in accordance with Defense Act No. 34/2008 and agreements with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This includes the operation of security areas, infrastructure, systems, command centers, and NATO radar and telecommunication stations.
