

Teacher of history - Maternity Cover from February
The International Department of Landakotsskóli is seeking a qualified history teacher to teach the Cambridge International History curriculum up to and including the IGCSE exams at the end of 10th grade. The position is temporary, covering a maternity leave and is expected to start in February 2026.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified teacher with experience teaching history at an advanced level. The history teaching position is a 76% post. The position can be extended to full-time if the candidate is a native speaker of English and able to teach English as a second language to Icelandic classes in addition to the history lessons.

Landakotsskóli is an independent compulsory school for grades 1–10, with an additional department for five-year-olds as well as an after-school program. Around 360 students attend the school, across two departments: an Icelandic department which follows the Icelandic national curriculum and an international department where teaching takes place in English and follows the Cambridge International Curriculum. About 50 teachers with diverse backgrounds work at the school, along with 30 other staff members. We are seeking someone who would thrive in this diverse cultural environment.
