Teacher of French - Maternity Cover from February

The International Department of Landakotsskóli is seeking a qualified French teacher to teach French language to students studying through the medium of English from 1st to 8th grade. The position is temporary and part time, covering a maternity leave and is expected to start in February 2026.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified teacher with experience teaching French as a foreign language. They should be fluent in French and have a good command of English. This position will be between a 50 and 66% post depending on the skills of the applicant.

The position is suitable for all genders.

All those who are employed at Landakotsskóli must authorize the collection of information from the criminal record.

Landakotsskóli is an independent compulsory school for grades 1–10, with an additional department for five-year-olds as well as an after-school program. Around 360 students attend the school, across two departments: an Icelandic department which follows the Icelandic national curriculum and an international department where teaching takes place in English and follows the Cambridge International Curriculum. About 50 teachers with diverse backgrounds work at the school, along with 30 other staff members. We are seeking someone who would thrive in this diverse cultural environment.
