Director Technical Operations

Icelandair is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Technical Operations to lead our Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO). This is a key leadership position, reporting to the VP of Technical & Maintenance Operations and forming part of our Operations Management Team.


Your Mission

As Director of Technical Operations, you will be responsible for defining and ensuring the continued airworthiness of Icelandair’s fleet. You will oversee all CAMO activities, ensuring full compliance with EASA Part-CAMO requirements and Icelandair’s approved procedures. Your leadership will be central to maintaining safety, compliance, and operational excellence in our technical operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Icelandair’s CAMO and oversee compliance with applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Ensure all aircraft maintenance is performed and released in accordance with the approved maintenance program and EASA Part-145.
  • Champion Icelandair’s Safety Management System and contribute as a key member of the Safety Review Board.
  • Ensure timely resolution and follow-up of audit findings and non-conformances.
  • Develop and manage a training system for airworthiness personnel.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing CAMO management team.


What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial aviation, including at least 2 years in a leadership role within Continuing Airworthiness.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence, guide, and inspire cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant engineering degree or certified aircraft maintenance qualification with supplemental education.
  • Strong emphasis on promoting and supporting a positive safety culture.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster collaboration and teamwork.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • In-depth knowledge of EASA Part-CAMO, ICAO standards, Safety Management Systems, and aircraft maintenance methods.
  • Hands-on understanding of human factors, compliance monitoring, and risk management.
