Velferðarsvið býr Reykjavíkurborg ennfremur undir að taka við nýjum velferðarverkefnum frá ríki svo sem í málefnum fatlaðra, öldrunarþjónustu og heilsugæslu.

Velferðarsvið ber ábyrgð á framkvæmd þjónustu á sviði velferðarmála, þar með talinni félagsþjónustu fyrir alla aldurshópa og barnavernd. Velferðarsvið ber ábyrgð á rekstri þjónustumiðstöðva Reykjavíkurborgar og starfseininga sem undir þær heyra. Velferðarsvið vinnur með velferðarráði og barnaverndarnefnd og sinnir málefnum þeirra. Þjónustumiðstöðvar vinna með hverfaráðum í hverfum borgarinnar.

Velferðarsvið sér einnig um rekstur miðlægrar velferðarþjónustu þvert á borgina, átaksverkefna vegna endurhæfingar fólks, heildstæðu forvarnastarfi í Reykjavík, inntöku í húsnæðis- og búsetuúrræði, rekstur hjúkrunarheimila, rekstur framleiðslueldhúss og rekstur heimahjúkrunar í Reykjavík samkvæmt samningi við ríkið þar um.

The City of Reykjavík&#39;s Welfare Department is looking for an expert for a full-time job in the performance and quality assessment team at the administrative office, temporarily for one year.
