Lead Game Designer

CCP Games is seeking a Lead Game Designer to help our EVE Online design team grow, align, and deliver impactful gameplay and system as we build EVE into its third decade.

This is primarily a leadership role. While design judgment is essential, your greatest impact will come from mentorship, communication, and enabling designers to do their best work within complex, long-running live systems.

What You'll Do:

• Lead, mentor, and support senior designers, with a focus on growth, feedback, and long-term career development
• Improve team effectiveness by strengthening communication, collaboration, and clarity across disciplines
• Partner with the Game Design Director to evolve and uphold EVE Online’s design process
• Guide feature teams through exploration and development, encouraging a solution-oriented mindset while preserving momentum
• Foster a culture of empowerment, experimentation, and learning within a live service environment
• Identify and address team health issues early, helping teams navigate alignment challenges
• Act as a trusted design leader for stakeholders, aligning goals and constraints into shared understanding

What We're Looking For:

• 6+ years of game design experience, including 2+ years in a people-focused leadership role
• Proven ability to mentor and grow experienced designers
• Extensive experience with gameplay systems and live game design, with the ability to give high-quality feedback
• Clear, empathetic communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills
• Experience shipping features in live service, MMO, sandbox, or similarly complex products
• A leadership mindset focused on enabling others and team outcomes, not individual ownership
• Bonus Experience: Familiarity with EVE Online, sandbox games, or player-driven economies
