

Data Engineer

As part of this continued growth, we are looking for a Data Engineer to join a newly established Business Intelligence team in Iceland.
This is a hands-on role combining data engineering, BI analysis and Microsoft Fabric expertise. You will help develop and operate a modern BI platform, turn business needs into reliable data solutions, and work closely with stakeholders to improve data quality and usability.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with a collaborative, people-focused approach. You communicate clearly, enjoy translating business requirements into practical solutions, and build trust with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain and improve data pipelines, models and analytical datasets in Microsoft Fabric
- Develop Power BI solutions and semantic models that support reporting and self-service analytics
- Translate business needs into clear, scalable data and BI solutions
- Partner with stakeholders on data quality, business definitions and continuous improvements
- Monitor and troubleshoot data flows, investigate discrepancies and support root-cause analysis
- Contribute to platform standards, documentation, governance, security and long-term ownership
- Collaborate closely with the BI team, IT colleagues, external partners and business stakeholders
Background & Qualifications
- Experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, BI Engineer or in a similar role
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, or strong experience across Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Spark or Delta Lake
- Strong SQL, data modelling and analytical skills
- Experience building BI solutions and working with data quality and integrity
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders and translate commercial needs into technical solutions
- Collaborative, curious and pragmatic working style
- Experience with Databricks is an advantage
- Good communication skills in English; Icelandic is an advantage
