Cost Controller - CAPEX Projects

Borealis Data Center is seeking a structured and detail-oriented Cost Controller – CAPEX Projects.

The Cost Controller plays a key role in the planning, monitoring, and control of capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects across the company’s data center portfolio. The role requires strong analytical capabilities, structured thinking, and the ability to translate complex project and financial data into clear, decision-useful insights for management. Combining cost control, forecasting, project analytics, and schedule tracking responsibilities, the role supports effective decision-making throughout all phases of CAPEX projects, from design and procurement through construction and commissioning.

The Cost Controller acts as a key interface between Operations and Finance, supporting financial planning, cash flow forecasting, reporting, and project governance, while contributing to the continuous improvement of cost control processes, tools, and reporting standards across projects and regions.

Key Responsibilities

CAPEX Cost Control

  • Track, analyze and control costs across data center construction and other CAPEX heavy projects
  • Track actual costs against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances, cost drivers and recommending corrective actions
  • Ensure cost discipline, cost allocation and capitalization during all project phases (design, procurement, construction, commissioning)
  • Own the cost impact assessment of the change management processes and assessing the financial impact of scope changes

Schedule & Progress Tracking

  • Integrate cost data with project schedules to enable “4D planning” (time + cost)
  • Drive cost and schedule alignment with project managers
  • Identify delays, bottlenecks and potential schedule risks

Forecasting & Reporting

  • Produce accurate and timely project and cash-flow forecasts such as “Estimate at Completion (EAC)”
  • Provide insights into cost drivers, risks, and opportunities
  • Develop dashboards and KPIs for project performance tracking
  • Support financial planning cycles, including budgeting and long-term CAPEX planning

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Act as a key interface between Operations and Finance
  • Support project teams with financial insights and decision-making data
  • Drive consistency in cost control processes across regions and projects

Process & Tools Development

  • Establish and improve cost control frameworks, templates, and reporting standards
  • Implement best practices for CAPEX governance and financial discipline
  • Support implementation of systems/tools for project cost management

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or related field
  • 5–10+ years of experience in cost control, project control, or financial management of CAPEX-heavy projects
  • Experience in data centers, infrastructure, energy, or large-scale industrial projects is a plus
  • Experience with project cost control tools and ERP systems is a plus
