About GOTT

Gott was founded in 2014 by  Berglind Sigmarsdóttir best selling writer and artist and her husband Sigurður Gíslason “Siggi” an established chef and former member of the Icelandic culinary team.

In the beginning, the menu was highly inspired by their three best-selling books which were all based on a healthy diet and the importance of what we eat and how it can impact us physically and mentally. Berglind and Siggi went on this exploratory journey after their son got diagnosed with Tourette's and they decided to try different things with his diet and saw great improvements in him and wanted to share this and show people that healthy food doesn't have to be boring. 

The restaurant started with seats for 35 persons but in 2019 we decided to expand the restaurant and improve the working conditions now today we can seat over 100 persons and the kitchen is 5 times the size of the old one. With this expansion, we adapted our culinary course to a more bistro-style food without forgetting where we started we still make a majority of our things from scratch. 

Summer season is a very busy time for the restaurant and almost all weekends from June until the beginning of August are very busy, so don't worry you won't get bored. It's not only busy at the weekends most days are very busy, but the weekends are especially busy. The season starts to slow down at the beginning of September, but we are one of the hosts and organizers of Matey food festival that is at the end of September we get famous chefs in from all over the world and design and make a special menu focused on fresh fish caught around the islands. This festival is a very fun way to end the season where we get a different perspective on the products we work with all day.  

GOTT is the leader on the island and on all of the south coast on all customer review sites and that is due to our high standards in service and food, this is something that we treasure a lot and we aim to get better every year and we need everybody to move in the same direction as us. 

About the work

We aim to please and our approach to service is friendly and easy going, and we recognize that our customers along with our staff are the most important aspect of our restaurant. So welcoming the customer with a big smile and making them feel welcome regardless of how busy we are is more important to us than for example which side you pour the wine on.

If there are any problems that happen during service. The customer's order did go through, some mistakes with either food or drinks the most important thing is the customer feels that he is heard and we will do our best to fix this to everybody's satisfaction.
