We are seeking an experienced and insightful User Researcher to join our Research and Development (R&D) team. In this pivotal role, you will lead user research dedicated to understanding user needs, behaviors, and experiences. Your insights will drive the design and development of prosthetic solutions that are not only brilliantly functional but also deeply resonate with our users' needs, lives and aspirations.
As this is an emerging new team within the business, there is a huge opportunity to be a pivotal and critical part of establishing best practice and building capability as the team grows.
This role is based in Reykjavik, Iceland, HQ of Össur and Embla Medical and the role would be fulfilled on site, with consideration given to flexible home working.

Develop and implement comprehensive user research strategies to inform prosthetic device design and development.

Conduct and oversee qualitative and quantitative research, including user interviews, surveys, and contextual inquiries.

Synthesize research findings into actionable insights and present them to cross-functional teams such as design, engineering, and commercial.

Establish workflows and infrastructure for capturing, analyzing, storing, and communicating user insights data.

Collaborate closely with commercial and product development teams to integrate user insights into the design and development process.

Lead the User Insights team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment across the company.

Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance to enhance their skills and career growth.

Advocate for the user perspective throughout all phases of product development.

Stay current with industry trends, emerging research methodologies, and best practices in user research.

Extensive experience as a UX Researcher, with evidence of planning and conducting impactful user insights research.

Deep knowledge of user research, product design, and UX principles.

Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including usability testing, interviews, surveys, ethnographic studies, and data analysis.

Experience with protocols, informed consents, and relevant paperwork.

Ability to integrate information from various sources to derive actionable insights.

Strong communication and presentation skills, effectively conveying research findings to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Proven experience in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management in defining/substantiating critical user-centric design decisions

Leadership experience with the ability to inspire and guide a research team.

Passion for improving lives through user-centered design and technology.

B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
