Senior Counsel

The Senior Counsel will be part of CCP’s in-house legal team, reporting directly to the Senior Director, Legal.

It is a temporary 12-month position during parental leave of a team member but could potentially become a permanent role.

CCP’s legal team is responsible for all legal matters that concern the company and its worldwide subsidiaries in Iceland, the UK, USA and China. We advise executive management, business unit leaders and the board of directors on legal and business matters across a global organization and oversee the work of outside counsel.

The Senior Counsel position is a hands-on role that requires substantial expertise in many areas of law relevant to the video games and tech industry.

The position can either be based in Reykjavík, Iceland or London, UK.

Your Tasks:

• Serve as the primary legal advisor to multiple business units, including commercial product groups, sales and business development, marketing, finance, operations, and human resources
• Draft, negotiate, and enforce all forms of commercial agreements
• Ensure the company conducts its business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including on consumer protection, online safety, digital services, monetization, privacy and data protection
• Maintain a significant worldwide intellectual property portfolio
• Litigation
• Collaborate with outside counsel
• Work with web3/blockchain/crypto products

Your Profile:

• Law degree (LL.M., J.D. or similar)
• Admitted and licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction (which license is current and in good standing)
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a law firm or in-house corporate environment
• Experience in intellectual property law, including licensing of IP rights and contract law
• Excellent communication proficiency in English (verbal and written)
