Microbiology Scientist / Örverufræðingur

Alvotech is currently seeking two scientists to join our Microbiology team in Reykjavik. One position is for day shift and the other for shift work.

The Microbiology Scientist is responsible for various microbiological testing, ensuring that testing related to microbial analysis is conducted accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards, particularly Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), to support manufacturing operations. The role requires a thorough understanding of various techniques and microbial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sampling of Environmental and Utility monitoring samples.

• Performing all microbial testing activities (Bioburden, endotoxin, Sterility, plate reading, growth promotion) as required based on qualification.

• Participation in training and qualification.

• Review of documentation pertaining to microbiology sampling and testing activities.

• Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of laboratory and equipment.

• Notify Team Leader of identified deviations or errors.

• Comply with Alvotech’s current EHS policies.

• Follow job descriptions and SOPs relevant to the position.

Additional Activities:

• Utilities sampling and testing.

• Bioburden and endotoxin sampling.

• Environmental monitoring.

• Plate reading and microbial culture-related activities.

• Sterilization of articles.

• Execution of basic microbiological studies.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Education: Minimum 1–3 years of experience in Microbiology.

• Experience: Knowledge and experience of working to cGMP standards within biologics/parenteral manufacturing for aseptically produced drug products.
