LAVA Centre is looking for hosts for its interactive volcano exhibition at Hvolsvöllur. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who have a passion for nature and the environment. An interest in geology and volcanism is a great asset.

We are looking for an individual who is easy to communicate with and enjoys working with people. The main role of a host is to create a memorable experience for guests and help them gain deeper insight into Iceland's volcanic nature and their journey through the country.

Good English skills are essential and Icelandic is a great advantage. Knowledge of additional languages ​​is also highly valued.

An interest in social media and content production is an advantage but not a requirement.

Main projects

• Welcome and interact with guests, providing information about the exhibition, the geology of Iceland and places of interest in the area.

• Organize and manage reception, including bookings and welcoming groups.

• Take care of and stock the gift shop.

• Lead booked groups through the exhibition and provide informative guidance.

• Ensure that invoicing for group bookings and daily tasks is carried out correctly.

• Maintain a neat and organized environment in key guest areas.

• Work closely with the team to ensure an excellent guest experience.

Qualification requirements

• Communication skills: Strong verbal communication skills and an interest in customer service.

• Language: Good command of English is essential. Other languages ​​are a great advantage.

• Collaboration: The ability to work well with colleagues and contribute to a positive work environment.

Desired skills

• Interest in Icelandic geology and volcanism (training will be provided).

• Knowledge of Icelandic is a great advantage but not a requirement.

• Ability to post on major social media platforms.

We are looking for a people-person with excellent communication skills. Your main responsibility is to create a memorable experience for our guests, helping them gain deeper insight into Iceland’s volcanic nature and their journey around the country.

Strong proficiency in English is required, and knowledge of Icelandic is a valuable asset. Additional languages are highly appreciated.

An interest in social media and content creation is a benefit but not necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome and engage with guests, providing information about the exhibition, Icelandic geology, and local attractions.

• Manage reception activities, including bookings and group arrivals.

• Manage and service the giftshop.

• Conduct guided tours through the exhibition for pre-booked groups.

• Ensure accurate invoicing for group bookings and daily operations.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the main guest areas.

• Collaborate with the team to ensure an excellent visitor experience.

Requirements

• Communication skills: Strong verbal communication and a passion for guest service.
  Languages: Fluent English required. Other languages are a big plus.

• Team collaboration: Ability to work well with colleagues and contribute to a positive work environment.

Preferred Skills

• Interest in Icelandic geology and volcanology (training provided).

• Icelandic language skills are a strong asset but not required.

• Knowledge about creating content and posting on social media.

• Ability to write blog or news content on geological topics is a bonus.
