Full Stack Software Developer (.Net Core)

TourDesk is the market-leading tour booking software for hotels, guesthouses, information centers and travel agencies in Iceland. We are looking for a full-stack developer for our team, with an emphasis on back-end development. The TourDesk platform consists of multiple web applications and microservices written in .Net Core hosted by Amazon Web Services.

As part of the team you will be tasked with keeping up-to-date with our many third-party integrations. You will be tasked with improving functionality, speed, efficiency and quality of our code base. Most importantly, you will be working to extend our platform as we grow and adapt to a fast-paced and ever-changing tourism landscape in Iceland and other foreign markets.

Main tasks and responsibilities

As part of the TourDesk development team, you will:

  • Work in an Agile environment executing development tasks aligning with our business needs, focusing on code quality and maintainability
  • Integrate with third-party software products including booking, payment and support services
  • Add value with new features
  • Maintain value with fixing issues that our users report
  • Work closely with members of our support, supply and executive teams with an aim of continually improve our business process
Educational and skill requirements

We require applicants to our development team to have:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, or equivalent commercial experience with software engineering (>3 years)
  • A strong background in .Net Core with C#, Asp.Net Core, MVC Razor, HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript
  • A strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with git-based version control systems (Github, Gitlab or Bitbucket)
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Responsive and thoughtful communication skills

These additional skills will be of added benefit:

  • Previous experience with Amazon Web Services: SQS, S3, EC2/ECS, ElastiCache/Redis, and others
  • DevOps background
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, specifically DynamoDB
  • Experience with Javascript frameworks and libraries such as React, Vue, Knockout and Angular.js
