Faculty position in Sport Science

The Department of Sport Science at Reykjavik University is excited to offer a full-time faculty position in Sport Science (or related fields). We are specifically looking for individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas: strength and conditioning, coaching, performance measurement, and exercise physiology. The position can range from Assistant Professor to Full Professor, depending on the current qualifications and position of the applicant. According to university regulations, a higher-ranking promotion is subject to a formal assessment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research in sport science or related fields
  • Teaching courses within the sport science department
  • Supervision of students at all levels of study, but with a particular focus on MSc and Ph.D. supervision
  • Participation in the department´s administration
  • Involvement in projects the department is working on in collaboration with the sports community in Iceland

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Ph.D. in Sport Science or a related field
  • Demonstrated research experience, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in international academic journals, contributions to textbooks, conference presentations, and industry collaborations
  • Teaching experience at the university level and ambition for excellence in teaching
  • Excellent English proficiency is a precondition
  • Good interpersonal skills, initiative and ability to work independently
  • Willingness to work in a team of teachers and scientists

Relocation assistance is available. Reykjavik University is a bilingual university where courses at the master's level are taught in English.
