DevOps & Systems Engineer at atNorth

We are looking for a DevOps & Systems Engineer to help build, operate, and continuously improve our automated, reliable, and scalable infrastructure platforms. This role combines a strong DevOps mindset with hands‑on systems engineering, working across virtualization, storage, automation, and platform operations.

You’ll contribute to a modern engineering environment focused on efficiency, reliability, and continuous improvement—ideal for someone who enjoys working across infrastructure and automation with real ownership and impact.

The role can be based in Reykjavik, Copenhagen, Stockholm, or Helsinki.

Key responsibilities:

DevOps & platform engineering

• Design, operate, and enhance automated infrastructure platforms

• Operate and scale container orchestration environments

• Drive automation to improve reliability, consistency, and operational efficiency

• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment and runtime environments

• Reduce manual work through strong DevOps practices

Systems engineering & infrastructure

• Design, operate, and maintain high‑availability Proxmox clusters

• Support on‑premises and hybrid infrastructure

• Perform capacity planning, lifecycle management, and hardware integration

• Ensure platform stability, performance, and availability

Storage & backup

• Manage Synology storage systems for data storage, backup, and replication

• Design and maintain snapshot, backup, and recovery strategies

• Run regular recovery tests and ensure data integrity and business continuity

Security & operations

• Apply security best practices across infrastructure and platforms

• Perform patching, hardening, and lifecycle management

• Troubleshoot complex issues across containers, virtualization, and storage

• Support operational improvements and incident resolution

Your profile:

Core DevOps experience

• Background as a DevOps Engineer or similar role

• Hands‑on experience with container platforms and orchestration

• Strong automation mindset and understanding of reliable platform operations

Systems engineering

• Experience with Proxmox or similar virtualization environments

• Solid grasp of infrastructure operations, lifecycle management, and running production systems

Storage & networking

• Understanding of storage technologies, data protection, and networking basics

• Experience with automation tools and scripting

• Comfortable working with version‑controlled workflows

Nice to have

• Experience with Synology NAS and high‑availability or multi‑node setups

• Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools

• Experience running container platforms on physical hardware

• Understanding of security and access‑control models
