Looking for a person with horse experience!

Hi, I’m Jenny and I’m looking for a female personal assistant.

I’m 50 years old and live a quiet life with my horse Mýrra and cat Nalle in Ölfus, near Selfoss. In a month I am moving to Grímsnes og grafningshreppur.

I’m looking for someone kind, responsible, and has an experience with horses (requirement).

I had a stroke five years ago which left me with aphasia. Therefore, communication is an important part of this role. My verbal communication is very limited and written communication can sometimes be difficult to interpret. I therefore need someone patient and observant, who feels comfortable supporting me in daily tasks with minimal verbal instruction while following my preferences and pace visual field loss, and neuropathic pain in half my body.

I also have autism, and ADHD – so life takes a bit of extra planning and patience. I’m introverted and value calm environments, animals, and nature.

Here’s what I could use your help with:

1. Getting to appointments (like dentist, physio, chiropractor, and vet)
2. Grocery shopping and light cleaning now and then
3. Visiting the stable and helping me with my horse (horse experience is therefore necessary)
4. Support with communication and planning
5. Encouraging social contact with friends and connection with others in similar situations
6. Just being someone I can trust and rely on in daily life

Requirements:

1. Experience with horses
2. Driver’s license and a car
3. A work permit

Working hours:
Back up/stand-in job position with flexible work schedules, 3-4 shifts per week. Shifts mostly start at around noon and end later in the day (12:00-17:00/18:00 as of now). I am flexible and open to discuss more and longer shifts though. 8 hour shifts are an option as well - we will just together find what works best for your situation and mine
