Marketing Manager for Iceland

At Storytel we believe that powerful stories add an extra dimension to life. We offer hundreds of thousands of audiobooks and ebooks to customers in 16 markets, with several new markets launching in the coming years. Storytel is Northern Europe's largest audiobook streaming service and we are now looking for a Marketing Manager for Iceland that will be located in Reykjavík.

About the role

The Marketing Manager is responsible for strengthening the Storytel brand in Iceland and for making sure that the marketing efforts convert into paying subscribers. You are also responsible for ensuring that all material and communication done are in line with the Storytel brand and global brand guidelines. You are responsible for laying the local marketing plan and for the implementation of the plan. You have the overall responsibility of all communication and events on your local market, in owned, earned and bought channels, including PR. You will be responsible for the daily operation and optimization of our marketing campaigns

An important part of the role will be to negotiate with media partners to establish the right mix of channels for your market, from both online and offline, and to make sure that the marketing is as efficient as possible. In order to do this you need to have a good understanding of the specifics of your market. You will be responsible for the daily operation and optimization of our marketing campaigns.

The role as Marketing Manager is part of the local Storytel team in Iceland, but you will also be part of the Storytel family and can at all times expect to be supported by Storytel’s Global team at the Storytel HQ in Stockholm. You should team up with both teams for knowledge exchange, best practice sharing and potential cooperation as well as for assistance in your daily work. The Marketing Manager reports directly to the local Country Manager.

Your profile

In order to perform this role well you should have a background in communications and marketing experience of:

  • At least 3 years of experience in branding activities either in an agency or client side with hands-on experience
  • Negotiating and buying media, offline and online
  • At least 1 year of experience with Paid Search (Google, Bing etc.), display and RTB advertising and paid Social (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
  • Setting up collaborations with partners and planning campaigns across different channels
  • Experience with Photoshop and Google Analytics is a plus

The right candidate should also recognize him/herself in the following criteria:

  • University degree that is relevant for the work
  • Excellent Icelandic and English skills (both spoken and written)

In addition we believe that you are a team player with an initiative, a strategic mindset and ability to execute on a tactical level. You are able to work independently and proactively and to take responsibility for your tasks and to meet deadlines and targets. You also think creatively and transform ideas into practice.
